Cricket Design Company Inc. was formed in 1988 and specializes in the design of themed entertainment facilities, independent & chain restaurants, college/university bars, as well as restaurant & food court work. Our completed project list includes a number of mid-level & high-end restaurants, we have done over 100 East Side Mario's restaurants for Prime Restaurant Group, multiple units for Tucker's Marketplace including TEK, numerous campus projects, and the design of OLG gaming facilities throughout the province.

The company grew from its early roots in retail and hospitality design, to specialize in restaurant work.  Having gone through varied economic times, Cricket understands the demands of a competitive marketplace, and how to aim and tune concepts to win. The firm conducts continuous research in restaurant trends through teaching in colleges and universities, through tours w/ restaurant operators and in networking with food service industry leaders.

Long partnerships with repeat clients and repeat project types gives the firm a deep appreciation of the complex functional requirements of hospitality facilities and a unique perspective on the business realities in the market place.

The firm believes that successful hospitality concepts must be catchy enough to establish market differentiation but must not be merely superficial "one shot wonders" which quickly become yesterday's news. Design concept cannot be separated from menu, service style and the other core values of the operator. While the restaurant industry is known for its high turnover rate, Cricket's hospitality projects are remarkable for their long-term success and longevity.

PEOPLE

Chris Hannah (Principal) has been practicing Interior Design since graduating from Ryerson Polytechnic University in 1980. He has been a member of the Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario (ARIDO) since 1988 and has served on the various committees. He teaches a variety of courses at Ryerson. He has been a guest speaker at the Association of Campus Bar Management (ACBM), the Canadian Organization of Campus Activities (COCA) and the Canadian Restaurant and Foodservice Association (CRFA Hostex 97, Hostex 99 and CAFP 2003-2004).
